SIA “Baloži & Ko” started operating in 2006. Milled peat and sod (cut sphagnum moss) peat are extracted in the 620 ha Ozoli peat bog. On average, about 100 000 m3 of milled peat and 30 000 m3 of sod peat are extracted every year.
In 2009 the company opened a peat packing plant, where peat is screened into fractions and pressed into 6 m3 bales.
The milled peat and sod peat we produce are exported to EU member states and third countries, and are also supplied to the Latvian market.
The company employs 20 people all year round and 50 people during the season from April to October.
SIA “Baloži & Ko” is owned by SIA Hawita baltic, SIA "CompaQpeat" and Heinrich Martens.
